Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Chin American Idol (“we,” “us,” the “Competition”), operated by [Organizer legal name — to be completed], handles information when you use chinamericanidol.com (the “Site”) and cast votes. Voting is anonymous — you do not create an account.

Information we collect

  • Payment and vote details. When you vote, payment is processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your email address and payment card details directly. We receive and store your email address, the number of votes, the amount paid, and the contestant you voted for. We do not receive or store your full card number.
  • Technical information. We briefly process your IP address to rate-limit checkout and prevent abuse. IP records are deleted automatically a short time after your visit (currently within about 10 minutes).
  • Aggregate analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand overall traffic. It is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not build an advertising profile of you.

Cookies

The Site does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If you proceed to payment, Stripe may set cookies on its own checkout pages to process your transaction securely; those are governed by Stripe’s privacy policy.

How we use your information

  • To process your votes and payments.
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
  • To understand aggregate traffic and improve the Site.
  • To contact you about a transaction if there is a problem with it.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that make the Site work:

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the Competition, voters, or the public.

How long we keep it

Vote records (including the associated email and payment amount) are retained for the duration of the Competition and for our financial and tax records afterward. IP records used for rate-limiting are deleted within minutes, as described above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, email cyona@info.org. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Children

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.
